The Conference of the Birds by Farid ud-Din Attar came into my possession by chance and seems to be an interesting diversion from The Arabian Nights. It was written in the twelfth century. I will summarize stanzas from the poem alongside the stories from the Arabian Nights. I am using the Penguin Classics version. I will not summarize the prologue. The prologue is mainly concerned with a praise to God, Mohammad and Solomon. Interesting as it may be I find it difficult to summarize this as an occidental agnost.
